6’4″ Shelter Bonzer

This is a replica of one of the two Bonzers from the 2001 film Shelter. Handshaped by Malcolm Campbell (of course), resin tint by Gary Stuber at Moonlight Glassing.

The Shelter Bonzers were special ordered by the Malloy brothers and at the time very few boards were getting resin tints with polished gloss coats, especially not contemporary shortboard shapes. The Bonzers were 6’2″ and 6’4″ and footage of Taylor Knox and Donovan Frankenreiter riding the boards made the final cut of the film.

This board is 6’4″ x 18 3/4″ x 2 3/8″

Nice price for such a good board. I’ve got a Bonzer too but shaped here in spain by Slash surf boards.

The lighting and the color work are masking the concaves in the photo, but this board has the standard Campbell Bros Bonzer bottom.

How does the Contemporary Shelter Bonzer ride compared to the Russ Short Bonzer?
