A lot of people don’t know this but Al Merrick is from Encinitas and went to San Dieguito high school. So we’ll file this board under the “local shaper” category.
More CI’s will be filtering in over the next 2 weeks so keep your eyes peeled for one you like.

May 5, 2010The Beautiful Black Beauty!
How sweet, love it and the respect for Al Merrick & Tom Curren! Befitting that this be the first of your run of Channel Islands…straight to #1…very cool!
How I wish I still had my handshaped, signed “Al Merrick for Tim” Black Beauty from 1986 with “Tommy Curren Designs” laminates on the rails, same red/orange/yellow hexagon logo…good waves & and the smell of coconut SexWax on a hot Summer morning in the 80’s when life was simple, and somewhat carefree…
Nice work Gentlemen, very cool to see…good memories…aloha nui & much respect!
Tim
