    Those Puerto shots are sick!

but seriously…is a quad setup better than a single fin or a standard thruster for this type of board. I wouldn’t trust the board not having any center fin! Sure they work well in smaller waves, but in serious waves let alone puerto escondido???

    …serious board for serious waves

better clear than with those silly stripes

-Zicatela is more difficult than Mavericks
my preference is to have a center fin (single fins, Bonzers, thrusters, 2+1 s) to carve those bottoms

Quads work great in huge surf i.e. Jeff Clark at Maverick’s for the past 20 years. And Dylan is a true waterman.

I rode an 8’0″ Quad last winter and it was the best gun I have ever had…30+ years surfing…

    I have a 7’6″ and a 7’0″ on order… both Quads…

Ok..Ok. Maybe they work fine on bigger waves on the drops, but there is no way they work in the tube better than a single fin or a thruster. When you ride Mavericks you aren’t really thinking about a barrel ride but pretty much just surviving the drop. Isn’t the tube what its all about @ Puerto? And if this is the casewith no center fin??? Seems like the right board for the wrong wave to me…Probably would work great out at Todos Santos

I rode that thing in solid head high cardiff reef. I thought the 8’0″ would be a little too small and was thinking about taking out the old 10″ rhino chaser, but with that quad set up you don’t need length thats the great part!If it can handle a big day there, it won’t have a problem at all in Puerto! 9’0″ seems a bit big for my liking, I like to stick to shortboards between the 7’0″-8’11” range, you know keep it high performance…

An 8’0″ board in Headhigh surf at Cardiff Reef! I hate to see what you ride in 2x OH surf.

And to the dude with the Pavel. That Puerto pic says it all.

Quads do great IN the barrel, the tricky part is getting locked in on one, that thing is gonna be killer at puerto

Once it gets that big, I like to bring out the ski and tow in. I’ll usually use the 10″ rhino chaser. A few years back I scored epic Georges. 2-3X over head, many of you young bucks don’t know this but there is an elusive cloud break about a 2/3 of a mile out from the chart house. Have to put in your time though, study the ocean, feel the ocean..be…the ocean. Only breaks for an hour or so every once and a while. But once the winds switch, its gone…like the wind… The quad is the only way to go when it gets this radical. Ya we can talk about Puerto Escondido but seriously how big does it get…5-6 foot max… So you can’t really judge the quad on such a so-so wave like Puerto. Believe me when the George’s cloud break comes a roaring, the quad is the only way to go. I also towed into solid 10″ yaddi’s rights, it was so big I was the only one out…If you don’t know where this spot is, don’t worry you will…in due time my friends…in due time…

Tyring to compare Cardiff to Puerto is a Joke!! If you haven’t been to Puerto you have no idea what you are talking about. i grew up surfing big hawaiian waves and Puerto is just as powerful as a North shore reefbreak. It’s shifty, there is heavy current, the lip is very thick, The waves move very fast, and a 3 foot wave out there will rip your board out of your arms. No-one wears leashes cause your board will break for sure. And, it can hold 10-15 foot hawaiian, no problem. This guy with the board is a legend down there and gets some of the best barrells every year. That board he’s holding will log more tube time this summer than most of all of us posting will get combined all year.
