This 5’8″ DK quad Fish features some doodle cartoons drawn by your truly. I used to draw on boards quite a bit, but this is the first one in longtime. I used Japanese Posca pens on the sanded hotcoat, which was glossed over and then wetsanded for a performance matte finish.
my eyes nearly melted outa my head after clicking on that final link!! amazing the irony of humans, not only are we capable of creating the magic of surfing to enjoy, we are capable of creating the retail of surfing to deplore. mpy
I was offered a job in the industry out of college and attended the ASR with my boss. By Saturday, a full 24 hours at the show, I turned the job down in disgust of what this industry is about. Sweatshops, cheap crappy labor, not so cheap crappy products and general Sh#%t talking about the other companies and employess at the show. Word to the wise: if you go, you’ll never want Hurley/Billabong/Quik clothes ever again.
Nice work JP, When I was down last week, I saw another board you were working on that was looking amazing too, I think Peter said it was for the Sacred Craft event.
Thanks for the props. I totally ripped…I mean, I was inspired by Australian Aborigine artwork. I used to be pretty obsessed with their art back in the day. Something about those dots…
