RIP SURFER MAGAZINE
American Media, Inc. has killed Surfer Magazine after 60 years of publication. Founded by John Severson, Surfer Mag gave us a rich and colorful documentation of surf culture. Sometimes great, sometimes cheesy, sometimes controversial, I always felt that having a physical copy of a surf magazine to flip through, to read, to score posters, to cut out photos and tape to the wall, it was important. From the incredible photography, to the classic covers (digital media is fun and cool, but it has no cover shot). From the articles, to the ads, to the letters to the editor, I loved it all (sometimes loved to hate it). AMI purchased Surfer in 2019 and promptly killed it without remorse. RIP SURFER MAG
