Mahalo Nui…I get some friendly static from always changing out / doing different fin combos with my boards…I tend to experiment with recycled fins and throw away fins, sand and re-shape some of them (ones with broken tips or just shitty generic glass fins no one uses), and it’s a trip…one of the boards I ride on a regular basis is a 6′ Greg Liddle Hull (a Velo Stubby) with a center fin and two rail fins…I’ve changed the stock 9.5″ center fin out with a recycled and reshaped fin more vert, less swept back at 8″ and ran to recycled and reshaped side rail fins at 1 and 3/4″ each and whoa…what a wild change…fun. I’m in the process of gathering some $$$$ to buy an Andreini Hull with five fin box’s (the guy had the 5th center fin box added for a larger long board fin), and I’m stoked to try out fin configurations on this one (if I score enough $$$kala$$$ in time before the guy sells it to someone else)…I have a few other boards I’ve tried switching fins out on, reshaping fins, adding lobes (like a fish fin), riding everything from 4’6″ and 4’11” twin fin swallow tails to 6’10” quad fishes, to 3 fin hulls…fins have such a huge impact on how boards ride and it is worth it for surfers to pay more attention to this fact…it’s also fun and awesome and really encourages a wide and expansive surfing experience. Good on you SURFY SURFY for posting this and good on Korduroy TV (eh how’zit Cyrus!), and the Von Sol guy (Sean Mattison) for putting it all together (the short film)…Aloha ‘a hui!
