February 16, 2012Any guidelines for sizing one of these? Eg. I sometimes ride a 5’8″ X 21″ retro keel fish. How many inches shorter than that do I go for one of these soap bars?

February 16, 20125’6″ if you want it to be a long board replacement. 5’4″ if you want some perf. Personally, your height comes in to place due to your stance. If you got a 5’8 fish I am guessing you are 5’10 – 6’0 tall. 5’2 spacebar might be the smallest you would want to go. I am just basing the sizing on the various mini simmons I have rode or had. I started at 5’10 and that was too big. 5’6″ works pretty good all around and I am 6’1″. Just got a 5’4 and love it.

February 16, 2012I’m 6’0, 225 lbs (I know, fat bastard). I have a 5’8 x 21 x 3 that I’m pretty sure someone/somewhere “shaped” out of a snapped dumpster LB. It’s too much board for me but man, I really dig it. Set it – forget it – and FLY! Slingerland is definately going to be my go-to when I’m ready to pull the trigger. Something like 5’6 x 21 x just a couple of hairs less than 3. And I love what he’s doing with fins (mine is a twin keel and thus tight). I’ve ridden mine in waist mush and clean O/H and it kicks-ass. I can only imagine what these beauties must do. Thanks for keeping us STOKED out here in the e-world JP!

February 17, 2012As a guideline I say ride these boards between your eye level and chin depending on what you are comfortable with.
