Surfline has a new feature about the boards archived at the Surfing Heritage Foundation. My Dad sez: “The late Mike Hopper’s Peta gun. Shaped by Mike, airbrushed by Jon Bredin, glassed by Wayne, sanded by Willie, pinlined and glossed by me and rubbed out by Grub. We had a pretty good crew back then.”

about sam he is a journalis! he is acting as an itermediary discussing a crafted object, a point in surfing’s timeline, several concepts pulled together – shaped and to be paddled into a shape shifting moving bit of liquid energy. Which he is atempting to conduct a bit of bringing a object and a point in time into perspective. perhaps overly digested to some perhaps still uncomprehendable to a few,
but – about story tellers back before written history history was oral. a kid was chosen that seemed to have the ability to repete the storys absoulty correctly (with any needed “side bars”) grew up with a profession of desimanating, teaching, passing along the history and choosing a succoser. if one of the chosen ones failed in keeping the history factual and accurate the punnishment was death. history is important, today it is not such a life and death issue put historys documentation is something to feed future generations, weather it is surfing, your family stories, or whatever it is part of being human.
