Dave at 40 mph

This is my oldest surf buddy Dave Thomas towing into near impossible beachbreak closeouts in Mexico last weekend. A lot of people don’t like tow-ins but this spot goes unsurfed otherwise. Here is an online story I wrote about Dave and his tow bros back in March of 2005, All About Surf: Underground Tow Teams.

Sardines and crackers!? Great article. I like the story about the whale.

Porky don’t understand how a folk could swap out the simplicity of a surfboard, wetsuit and wave for all that gear. Or substitute the whine and whirr of one of them skis for the silence of the pelican’s glide, the meditative shhhhhing of water lapping against the rails and, of course, the sound of grumpy middle-age guys groaning about crowds and whatever else.

But diff’rent (four) strokes for diff’rent folks, Porky guesses.
