Agave/Balsa Pescado
Another nice one from Mr. John Cherry. Agave and balsa and who knows what else. Nice and light, this beauty is a rider!

Not sure if John Cherry has told you guys, but my dad owns Tropical Exotic Hardwoods over near the Palomar Airport Rd/El Camino Real Intersection. As of about a month ago, we have started to carry Balsa lumber. Over the years we have had numerous shapers inquire about it but have never attempted to stock it, so we are giving it a shot. John Cherry has been helping us getting the word out to everyone he thinks might be interested, but it’s really hard letting all the smaller backyard shapers and guys shaping their own boards know that we have some nice stock available from them. Most people think we only sell in bulk quantities, but our shop is open to anyone who is interested in wood. Our website is www.anexotichardwood.com and our phone number is 760-434-3030.

July 26, 2008Thanks for the kind words. I thought long and hard about 2 vs 4 on this one. I set up the subtle concaves on the bottom for twins. Plus, I had a killer set of lacey-sycamore wood twins for this one. whomever gives this one a home won’t be disappointed in the performance. The t-bands are Peruvian walnut and balsa. I chambered the t-bands to keep the board down to it’s very light weight. it’s 6/4oz on the deck, 6oz on the bottom, with a 6oz fin patch. So it’s sturdy as well as light.
