Bamboo Fins!

Surfer/shaper/surfboard builder Marlin Bacon has been bogarting these insane bamboo glass-on fins, so I talked him into selling some of them to all of you hepcat backyard shapers out there in the blog-o-sphere. He’s got Fish keels, Bonzer siderunners, quads and *gasp* even tri-fin sets.

Bamboo fins weigh approximately 50% lighter than most RTM honeycomb fins. Bamboo fins have a flex memory that rivals or exceeds solid fiberglass fins. In other words they got TWANG.

For prices and other info e-mail Marlin Bacon at fins@101fins.com

You can also request that your custom order at Moonlight gets 101 bamboo fins.

Maybe if we are lucky Marlin will update his website one of these days, 101 Fin Co.

My new custom quad shape making its way through production at Moonlight has been ordered with Marlin’s glass-on bamboo fins.

In addition to all of the great characteristics JP mentioned, bamboo fins are also the *greenest* choice. Imagine that, a material that has superior performance characteristics to anything man-made AND it’s also best for the environment! I hope others decide to give them a try as well.

    Waves to ya.

If you aren’t running 101 CI templates in your fish, you are missing out.

Right now I have the lokbox Jeff ‘Doc’ Lausch template on my 5’8”CC fish… Love them!

I feel curious about the bamboo feel…. I have to get a set.

Marlin’s fins go well with some homemade brownies!!!!
I have glassons on a couple of boards now and they give a good “telecaster” twang on the turns…and with time you feel more the high lines carves on the waves …those fins are really sensitive!!!!!
I’m a die hard fan of the fins to the point of having all my boards this year made with them…plus Marlin is great to deal with and get stuff from.
If you ever meet Marlin and talk about his fins and california quads and then have the chance to watch him surf you realize how in tune his craft is with his personal surfing style.

So many good things to say about Marlin / 101 fins. I recently busted one of my keel fins off:

    It floated
    I found it
    He took it
    He fixed it

Customer service is outstanding. Quality product made by a quality guy/surfer.
