Double wing swallowtail quads are the current board du Jour for dedicated fish riders. These boards are designed for performance surfing in weak to good surf for surfers tired of groveling on low volume thrusters. The quads are easier to surf backside than the traditional keels and surf nice and loose.

Featuring modern rails and rocker, these surfboards are not a retro trip down memory lane. These are contemporary surfboards for contemporary surfing.

Underground guru shaper Gary Hanel, aka GH, was featured in this issue of The Surfer’s Journal.

All 4 boards are glassed with 5/4 oz decks and 5 oz bottoms for excellent strength/weight and glassed with enviro-responsible UV resin.

*All solvents used in production were recycled.

Boards are glossed and polished and feature the adjustable Lokbox fin system. There are several options on the fin setup with fins made by Rainbow Fin Co.

Airbrushed and pinlined by Peter St Pierre.

All boards are priced at 625.00 (pennies per wave) plus tax, includes fins.

Marlin’s fins are worth every penny. I have a set of his
lokbox SQ101’s on my fish and they are never leaving the board. If you want a snappier, livlier yet smoother riding board, get on em!!!!

Rode a chistenson 5’8″ fish sanded finish no gloss. Board was so much lighter than his older volan glassed boards. Anyway, out of my keel fish that I have ridden in the past 24 months. Pavel, Donald Takayama, Merrick(2004)ci Christenson. This Sanded finish Chistenson was the best. It had a perfect feel. It had not the slightest of that ” chunk of a log” feel that some heavy glassed fish feel like. The nicest lightest sweetest keel I’ve ever surfed. I surfed it at a left point break in south oc. It was the longest fish I’ve surfed. Try sanded some time.. Hope this helps you fish heads. Rocker and rails and shape were Steve Lis all the way it just could have done airs given the lighter feel. I don’t know Chistenson and just want to help someone find the right fish. Mandalas are beyond butter also.

i can’t believe none of those Hanels have sold. I got him to shape me one, a 5’10”, last fall. i rode it all winter in overhead surf as well as this summer in… well you all know what kind of summer we’ve had in S.D. i’ve been running a set of canard quad cutaways in it. It’s been a hell of a lot of fun.

p.s. JP you should change that header, mang. Gary’s quads ain’t just for mush…

p.p.s. how’s the little grom doing?

These board have inspired a bunch of customs but so far no-one has gone for the insta-satisfaction of buying off the rack.

It’s cause they aren’t BROWN. If you woulda done em in BROWN they would have gone out the first day. Can you say BROWN. All kidding aside, I’ve forwarded this to everyone I know, cause like Rick said, I can’t believe these didn’t sell the first day. I’ve felt em all many times, and they are quite nice.

Another happy GH quad owner here. JP ain’t lying when he says GH’s rails and rocker make all the difference. Marlin’s fins rule too. Let’s just say that if you knew what I already know, you’d of bought one of these already….

I saw those boards the other day and I was surprised they haven’t moved. The rails are finely foiled and the boards feel light and lively. Ready to shred. Somebody’s going to be stoked!

A good friend of mine bought the 5’8. Surfed it today for the first time and says the thing goes unreal. Definately a keeper. Can’t wait to give it a go myself.
