And then there was one,

Last week we started out with 4 stock Mandala surfboards and are now down to this final one.

This board was handshaped (no shaping machine) out of a King Mac blank by Manuel Caro in San Francisco exclusively for our shop. It features a tapered stringer which gives the board a nice springy flex out of bottom turns.

The Lokbox fin system is adjustable 1/2″ forward and back so you can dial in your set of AK4’s by Rainbow Fin Co. just the way you like it. Note the tapered stringer.

The forward fins are single foiled and the rear fins are double foiled. There is chocolate in my peanut butter.

Airbrushed and pinlined by Peter St Pierre.

The official Mandala Surfboards logo.

This board looks lonely. It needs a good home.

Shaper Manuel Caro always measures twice. Photo by the lovely Maggie Marsek.

From the modern rocker, crisply foiled rails, adjustable fin system and custom blank, this is NOT a retro surfboard. This is the 21st century baby.

    Tapered stringer? Please explain.
Width or height? Front or back thicker?
    🙂

The stringer tapers down in thickness from nose to tail, allowing for fancy surfing instead of just regular surfing.

Does the board work for the type of person that likes to wear short-john wetsuits?

LOL. Bob, you’re a pal. The dims are just about perfect for this short-john wearing surfer…but I’m not sure I want to go down the quad road again after my Pavel experiment.

That’s a sweet logo…..a little hard to read though when you have it upside down.

Wow, all gone. Thanks to everyone for all your enthusiasm about my shapes. I’m back in town from an extended adventure to the UK and NYC, but unfortunately I’ve had to close my shaping queue in order to catch up on orders and get my turnaround to a semi-decent length of time. Keep an eye out for more boards coming through Mollusk SF, NYC, and Venice…

    Cheers,
    Manuel

This comes from a place of respect, but dudes can you have your store mandalas a bit shorter. Just keep boards for guys that know how to surf. 6 foot fishes are kinda cheese. Under 5’9″ at least. If some big dude wants one cool but they were all so big. Same with Campbells boards, make those high performance boards no eggs and shit. Who cares about eggs and boards for lame ass waves. Your super killer and the moonlight familly is CLASS ACT> NO DOUBT, but please get Modern kick ass bonzers please. WORD>
