Bonzer stuff from 1989

I stumbled across this interview and ad with Malcolm Campbell and Campbell Brothers Bonzers (and Max McDonald too!) in a 1989 issue of Breakout magazine, which is the year I started riding 5 fin Bonzers (age 19).

JP, who were the first to start using double concave? Was it the Campbell Brothers?

Hey JP, This is a great example of why I check surfy surfy every day. Any chance you could please post the entire interview? I’ve been curious about the history and design of the elevated wing. Respect.

Speaking of bonzers, you could probably appreciate this board…

(it’s not spam, although now that I said that you’re really skeptical)

That one is straight out of 1990. And for $190 bucks it would be worth picking up to charge this winter with.

All you need are some guatemallan shorts, a ponytail, some vaurnets with croakies…
    And ….oh….wait: See jp’s closet.

    Ha!
Nice what I wouldn’t do to go back pre-digital. Remember knowing like 20 phone numbers off the top of your head? These boards were the essence of high-tech…
