January 3, 2011Channel Islands are almost all done on CNC at different cutting houses. Most of the teams experamental boards get hand shaped bc sometimes its faster than creating a new file for the CNC. If you love a CI shape buying it from JP would be best bc its glassed by good people but you should buy it bc of the shape not bc its a CI. Your local shaper can make something just as good for you. I shape, glass and sand all my boards and have relationships with my clients but thats not for everyone. you should decide for yourself. BUt JP is a good guy so quite hating….

January 5, 2011I love my CI’s! I had a similar resin tint on a custom (exact same color) but my blunder was ordering the board much too narrow and I sold it to someone who must be really happy with it! Al is the man and one of the true visionaries as a surfboard designer! We’d be in a different place without him and the thousands of pros and world champs who rode and still ride Channel Island Surfboards!
