First time I ever saw an SUP was years ago at First Point Malibu – Laird Hamilton on an SUP. At first I thought “what the eff is that guy doing?”. Then “Hey that’s that guy from al the mags-they make him seem so cool!” Then I take off pretty deep, almost at 2nd Point and Mr. Hamilton looks right at me, starts paddling and burns me. Not that I don’t expect to get dropped in on every single wave at Malibu….but, but…..damn!
Surfy will be shaping SUP’s within two years…Surfer mag already smelled the money and the future. Waves are waves, if you can’t paddle to another break, not my fault!
I just read an article that said SUP saved the surfing industry? I can tell you the lines are becoming more blurred on who makes sup’s and who makes boards. As long as i can have my break.

May 13, 20103 months back this dude was on a ‘SUP at Venice Pier, ticking everybody off. Well, he crashed into the Pier’s pilings and cracked the thing in half.
That was a good day indeed.
