February 7, 2010Dax was really named after Dox, short for Doxology, Samuel Hamilton’s willful but beloved horse in “East of Eden.” When signing the birth certificate paperwork at 2:30 a.m., the exhausted parents accidentally smudged the “o,” causing it to appear as an “a.” The following morning, the even-more-exhausted parents received the printed certificate and noticed the typo, but in their weariness just shrugged and decided, “Dax’ll do.”
