I have never ridden a Tomo board. I will defer to anyone who has because of their first-hand experience.

But my gut reaction is deriving design inspiration from jet fighting airplanes is ill-advised. Why not use design theory from watercraft instead?

everybody in surfing’s gotta have a gimmick
who’s to say what really works and what just looks fancy
i read somewhere, can’t remember where now
that tail shape is the least important aspect of surfboard design
so why does everyone obsess over a tail shape?
and who gives a fuck if he likes to look at planes or trains or automobiles when he makes a board.
“gidget ruined surfing” “the leash ruined surfing” ” internet forecasting and surf spot maps ruined surfing”
no, humans spoil everything for themselves, then they whine about how things aren’t what they were. the australians figured out how to turn a life’s committment and a tribal dance into a commodity. they figured out how to dumb it down, homogenize it and sell it to corporations who repackage it and sell it to people who have no business being in the ocean with a foam spear tied to their ankle. thanks boys, job well done. a lot of people have made a comfy living on the misery of the committed waverider who likes to ride without a crowd of donkeys clogging up the sea. to those of you that busted down the door, wrapped it in plastic and sold it to coca-cola, thanks for nothing. on the other hand, i surfed a boil-ridden rockbottom pointbreak at shoulder-high and rifiling down the line yesterday for two hours without a soul in the single most crowded stretch of beaches in australia. why? because sheep like to be herded.
