GH/Moonlight’s Surfboard in Billabong’s Art of Shaping
Billabong is hosting an event called Art of Shaping at the ASR tradeshow this weekend. Our own Gary Hanel was one of the 23 invited San Diego county shapers. Above is the board we made for the event. It won’t win the auction because it’s not a crazy balsa gun or anything, we just wanted to make a functional stock surfboard that represents what we all ride on a daily basis and not a wallhanger. GH and Moonlight and Surfy Surfy are pretty stoked to be part of this. Cynics accuse Billabong of just trying to gravy train some soul but knowing the guys at Billabong who put this event together I can testify that they have a true love for surfboards.

September 11, 2009Very stoked to see G.H. and all the S.D.shapers getting even a fraction of the props they deserve and with Billabong’s money it is just a fraction or a fraction of a fraction add infinity ! Still , it is nice to see one of the giants give something back !

September 12, 2009it was an AMAZING evening at the auction. once-in-a-lifetime experience for everyone there. the boards were all true gems. GH’s board was stellar, and the only Bonzer of the batch. nice work GH & Moonlight
