Ricky Carroll wins Caster tribute Shape-Off

Ricky Carroll won last year’s Sacred Craft Shape-Off tribute to Mike Diffenderfer.

Here Ricky boldly puts in the channels with his planer.

Ricky Carroll’s finished replica of Bill Caster’s “Channel Hull”.

Ricky Carroll.

The shapers only had 10 minutes to examine this authentic handshaped Bill Caster surfboard.

This board was chosen for the Shape-Off not only for the difficulty of the channels and wing, but because it’s just a really bitchin’ board.

Hey, you are right. Will I have to pay for my own rape kit, or is that only Alaska?

I was just glad to be there to support Dave and his family. Sunday was hard on all the Caster family. But I was excited to see Dave get excited about his dad’s boards.

I owned an original Caster 8 ‘ pin tail , and was the best surfboard I ever owned, after the Midget Farrely stringerless, and the G & S spoon , so many great boards …. bought them all from ..probably the best surfboard salesman on the east coast….. George Gerlach, from Surfers Supply, probably one of the best surf board shops in the World !!! chico calderone
