Hendrix’d

A customer wanted a replica of the famous Rob Machado camera board with Jimi Hendrix art. This image was a cover shot for Surfing Magazine and Gotcha used it as a poster. The Hendrix camera board project was a collaboration between photographer Mike Balzer, shaper Al Merrick, surfer Rob Machado, airbrusher Peter St Pierre and the Moonlight factory crew who had to make the camera mount synch with the camera and artwork.

One of my favorite cover shots. Strange to think there was a time when rob did not have a fro!

What was the date of the cover? I’m guessing 1991? I know it was when I was still in high school. Must be 16+ years back. Good stuff.

Interesting, that cover shot by Mike Balzer came up in a conversation I had with my Brother a couple weeks back. He’s a very talented photographer.

Indeed one of the most interesting covers from the 90´s.
During my kid days it has allways been my favorite edition, I still own it…
