I guess since they own every collectable surfboard in the world they have decided to corner the twin fin market too ! Will twin fins now be traded on the exchange , will prices triple ….stay tuned ….
It just doesn’t make sense. It is great surf porn. Why do you need a 5’10”. 5’11”, 6′, 6’1″ Twin? Then do the same for speed dialers cause they’re hot.. next is Liddle Hulls.. where the variety of fun? To each their own.. I guess that’s why they make chocolate and vanilla.. or in this case chocolate, milk chocolate, swiss chocolate, swiss-german chocolate.
i like the cardboard mats in the keel fin shot… take care of your hydro-crafts and they will take care of you. wish i had that discipline. its probably a full time job just keeping them all clean… do you have them cataloged? that would be rad to flip through a folder while sitting on the couch to decide what boards your going to ride that day..
Anyone hating on this quiver needs to get their ego realigned by a recently divorced chiropractor.
That collection of boards took some serious effort and creativity to assemble. I definitely wouldn’t kick it out of bed for getting sand in the sheets.
These boards get ridden regularly. I have been surfing and around surfboards my entire life and appreciate the art of handcrafted surfboards; but not as much as the ride. There are 3 boards in the pics that I haven’t ridden; the yellow pavel that is a backup for the purple one (it’s not like you can get one of these off the rack), the yellow Lis, Stevie made me for Hanalei (I wasn’t able to go because of a cancer episode) and the Fineline Hull (that was a gift that I sold). It has taken me many years to put together and amass this quiver that for the most part it is a tribute to who I consider the premiere shapers of San Diego county. I find variety by picking a keel, a fishy quad and a thruster descendant quad (not pictured)and alternating between them depending on the conditions;after 3 months or so I pick 3 different ones, it keeps me fired up and in the water. Some of these boards are over 10 yrs old and still look new, I have sold all the hulls except for the Terry Martin single fin and the Liddle, not really into them. It has been fasinating seeing and riding the evolution of the keel fin fish into quads that have descended from the fish and those that have evolved from thrusters. After losing my wife to cancer in 2006 and having a close call myself the year before I have come to the conclusion that “life is too short to not have a board on order”; especially living in an area where we have access to guys like Skip Frye, Rich Pavel, Terry Martin, Michael Hynson, Rusty, Larry Marible, Stevie Lis, Malcom Campbell, AL Merrick, Roger Hinds, Pat Rawson, Matt Biolas, etc. every shaper’s batch of chocolate tastes different.
ok so every one is havin fun throwin comments and every one is either droolin from both corners or chokin on their drool.
chum that was good but a gimmi (on difficulty), tim good writing you got an A in metaphores. (m wadin through a six pack so i am feeling verbal and invinceable) R.C. stay happy, stay healthy and do your thing.
how you gonna judge two swans (to paraphrase B.K.)
to paraphrase r.c. every surfer’s batch of chocolate tastes different.
i like pesto and oat meal for breakfast and bacon, french bread, spinach or pineapple and beer for dinner.
To each his own and I would love to have that collection of beauties!! I totally agree with the owner of the quiver…life is too short and why not make yourself happy which in turn you end up making others happy. I am working on my own quiver and would love to post pics when I feel worthy enough for Surfy Surfy….???

June 19, 2008Say, what’s the sizing on that last yellow keel fish? Hum?

June 19, 2008Variety is definitely the key to any good quiver. When it comes to chocolate, however, go with Swiss because everything else is just complete crap.
