***SMASH**BAMM**CLANG***
Tough week for Shawn Ambrose,
First a woman trying to send a text message while driving smashed into his vintage Chevy Apache,
Then this morning a young woman speeding down the coast highway at 5:30 am swerved off the road and destroyed his surf shop,
“I’ll make lemonade out of this somehow.” said a pissed but optimistic Shawn.
North County Times.com story: OCEANSIDE: Surf Shop hit by car
While there is no good time for a car to smash into your surf shop, this is really bad timing. Summer just started and it’s these precious 3-4 summer months that makes 90% of a small mom&pop surf shop’s income for the entire year. Shawn and Heather Ambrose have a new baby, they are real down to earth and hard working people, please think of supporting Real Surf Shop this summer. www.realsurfshop.com
Oceans Rising
June 17, 2008Sad for Ambrose. Stoked for his resolve. At least the car went through the wall where his softgoods are and not where the boards and bikes are. He’ll make it, for sure! Needs a sign, “Open while remodeling.”

June 17, 2008…what a bad luck
and may be those drivers still have the license
-one problem with the car is the bumper
very difficult to obtain a satisfactory repair (due to the chroming work that needs perfection..)
or difficult to obtain a “new” one in perfect conditions
—several years ago I parked my 1948 motorcycle correctly
but a big truck that drived for the other side! finish with her underside…(the baby is a low rider)
good that nobody s hurt

June 17, 2008That sucks. The other day I did a blog post about terrible drivers.
This morning on the way to work I saw a Ford Expedition parked in someones backyard with the brick wall demolished.
I’m glad no one’s hurt and I hope this doesn’t terribly affect his summer time business.

June 17, 2008dude, was it the same driver?

June 17, 2008You’re lucky you weren’t on your bike.
Festus Porkmeyer
June 17, 2008Damn. That’s lousy for the mom and pop shop.
Text messaging? Jesus Baldheaded Christ! The Darwin Award contenders are closing in on us. Where do we hide? When Porky stages his coup and takes charge, drivers who answer their cell phones shall be prosecuted, those who dial at the wheel shall be persecuted, and anyone who text messages while piloting an automobile shall be prostituted.
For Porky has consulted his Scriptures, and nowhere does it say, “Thou shalt not bring the hammer down.”
Speedy recovery to Real Surf.

I wish them the best of luck!!! I know how hard it is to deal with a damaged workplace. Ours was almost destroyed during hurrican Ivan.

June 17, 2008Oceanside is more dangerous than you think. People forget how hard it is to maintain control on a straightaway. Looks like she took out the wax display. Oh the humanity! I’ll be down there in a couple weeks.
