In the ongoing quest for lighter, stronger materials for building surfboards, 101 Fin Company is looking to natural resources for it’s fins. Bamboo fins weigh in approximately 50% lighter than most RTM honeycomb fins with a flex memory that rivals or exceeds solid fiberglass fins. The unidirectional nature of wood gives the fin strength and stiffness at the base, while allowing the tip to flex. But the real secret is in the flex memory of the wood itself. Wood fins use less resin and material. Wood fins are nothing new in surfboards but now they are removable. Combined with the Lokbox system that allows 1/2″ adjustment to fine tune your surfing, the performance wood fin revolution has already began.

July 16, 2007yes you have NUNO and i still have your CC board to finnish….lol…101 fins are very very good, had some small waves in the UK with one Zamora quad with 757 boeing fins, Marlin´s quad, and Manuel´s AK template on his personal board…the fins make a very lively response!!!!! Can´t wait to have my Chris Christenson 7’6 4 fin micro glider with 101 bamboo glass on fins ready….

July 16, 2007Love the look of the bamboo, but, in my opinion, they would look much better if the fin base color matched the box color.
