    The inconsistency is our salvation.

It’s takes a lot of devotion to be a surfer here. We surf in whatever we can get.

We’re always stoked, no matter if there is little crappy waves or if all the Planets are aligned and we really score.

Surfing in New York is a cure for lack of stoke.

It sounds wacky but I really I want to take a surf trip to NY someday soon.

I noticed that yesterday and thought you’d mention it….I must be psychic.

Great article/feature, I have a lot of respect for NY surfers. We Southern Californians don’t realize how good we have it sometimes.

surfing and living in new york city is as good as it gets…not surf consistency wise but there is no better feeling than having a great surf day in long beach and 45 minutes (and an egg cream from the laurel) later being in the hustle and bustle craziness of new york city in all its mighty grit and grandeur…nothing like that experience…

    that picture is a fraud!

both those blockheads are 30 blocks away from their apartments in the opposite direction from the beach and they always use boardbags!

But I have seen what that photo represents many times, it is weird walking around NYC with a surfboard tripping people out.

As for that board itself, Paul rips on it.

JP you better make that trip soon before little grom comes, Aug maybe first hurricane?

overall i thought that piece was a pretty big sham…only a few faces you’d know from the water…how about that one guy “oh actually i don’t really surf here cause it usually sucks here”…yeah there’s a representative sample…

surfnli has a point, and ach!what a load of missed opportunities – fr instance the scene in the water here is representative of the hugely diverse cross section of people NYC contains, most spots have frequent crews of stunning diversity, not to mention a higher proportion of women in the water than anywhere else I’ve seen. Waaaay outside of the 16-40 year old white guy box here. Nice of them to downplay the wave quality here, tho. There are no waves.

If you are able to get away, you can count on me for loaner boards.
