Sean, then and now

The other day my Dad found this old photo of Sean Matteson of when Sean was a grom team rider for Rip Curl surfboards. The board was most likely shaped by Bill Shrosbee. This is back when Moonlight Glassing had just opened up in the new factory in San Marcos. These days Sean is the head board buyer at Surf Ride surf shop in Oceanside and rips one of the biggest functional quivers in the history of surfing.
Longboard magazine recently put him on the cover riding a modern Fish.

It’s no lie, he rips. Been in the water while he was tearing up the jetties a few times.

It was nice talking to you the other day. That board was shaped by Dan Van Zantan. I remember waiting every day for weeks to see the Roadway Truck bring the box full of boards. What a classic photo. Brings back memories of that time period. Storm Riders the movie…which Wayne Lynch was one of my heros. Cheyne Horan and the Hot Pink movement….Ya…80’s…..That was one of my early tri fin…aka
THRUSTERS….with the freestyle box that killed even a grown mans hand to adjust in the box. Anyway tell you pops I said Hi
