Nice Niche
Surfy Surfy Surf Shop has settled into the niche market of providing people who like good surfboards with great surfboards. This here is an authentic Campbell Brothers Bonzer 5 fin shaped by Malcolm Campbell and glassed at Moonlight Glassing.
This is the Mini-Merk model, a refined 1980’s inspired shape. This one features the elevated wing or e-wing, which serves to leave the that nice Merk hip that allows wasy rotation on cutbacks but pulls in the tail for tighter turns and more control.
Be it science or magic, e-wings work insane, which is why we tolerate glassing and sanding these suckers.
The Mini-Merk has a mellow beak nose which Malcolm uses to fill out the volume cleanly. The rails are not blocky but are foiled out nicely. They feel good (you know when you pull a board off the rack and caress it’s rails and it just feels right? Yeah!)
And of course, the Bonzer fins and concaves work together as a complete advanced system for speed, flow and what I call surfing surfing. No wiggling, no flapping and no bogging allowed.
