Any history on the building? The architecture has always struct me as kinda deco.
Longboard Grotto has been Sam Ryan baby for about 20 years or more.
The building was built in 1926. It has been a market, bus station, hotel, several surf shops and a multitude of small businesses. For the last 20 years it has been the Longboard Grotto surf shop. My wife is heading up the current restoration. We are really stoked on this project!
will it be called surfysurfysurfshop?
The full name is “Surfy Surfy, Not Surfride, Surf Shop.”
you gonna take used boards? consignemnet fee?Congrats and best of luck – this is what surf shops should all be about.
I’m excited for this! Can’t wait….
from blog to store…very cool jp.it is a bitchen building.
When are you guys planning on opening it.?
Are you guys gonna stock real waterman gear, like SUP stuff from C4? I’m gonna need some new full traction pads for this winter. The wax from my 11’6″ Parmenter is getting all over the roof of my Porsche Cayenne…
Be sure to have plenty of surf-memorabilia…everything old is new again!!!
Looking forward to this I know you will have a great selection of boards, with the best glass jobs.
