Super Surfboard Sander Supreme Kenny Mann in the new Journal

Vol 20 issue #2 of The Surfer's Journal has a cool feature on Moonlight Glassing's surfboard sander Kenny Mann written by Kimball Taylor. Kenny has sanded over 100,000 surfboards and specializes in the tricky stuff like channel bottoms, glass-on fins and Bonzers. Kenny moves fast hence the blurry TSJ photo so here is a file photo.

1975 Korn

Malcolm Campbell laying it down on the original Kandy Korn 3 fin Bonzer circa 1975.
*Note the powering multi-fin bottom turn in the era of single fins and the round nose in overhead beachbreak.
The experts still can't believe it.

Letter from Fukushima

From the Surfer's Journal website:

By Tadashi Yaguchi

Dear my friends.

We Japanese used to surf at front of nuclear power station in Fukushima. Almost all coastal line has been destroyed by tsunami and earthquake...and explosion of nuclear power station. There were so many classic surf spot and secret point there. The land around the power station will now be polluted for next few decade.

Please tell this disaster to media. Tohoku (North Japan) needs help.

Best wishes,

Tadashi Yaguchi

Early 90's Sunburst CI

A kid and his Dad brought this board into the shop the other day. It's a Moonlight glassed Channel Islands from the early 1990's. Back then a lot of CI's that ran through Moonbase were glossed and polished and all had glass-on fins. This board is from right before the surfboard industry switched over to fin systems in mass.
The kid had picked it up used last year and learned to surf on it. It's still in A condition crazy enough. The bottom is slightly more yellowed than the washed out photo shows but this board is clean.
It's the MBB model. 7'4" x 21" wide x 2 3/4"
Airbrush by Peter St Pierre. Longevity glass-job by Gary Stuber.
It's for sale down at Surfy Surfy if you gotta have it. $350
