Vol 20 issue #2 of The Surfer's Journal has a cool feature on Moonlight Glassing's surfboard sander Kenny Mann written by Kimball Taylor. Kenny has sanded over 100,000 surfboards and specializes in the tricky stuff like channel bottoms, glass-on fins and Bonzers. Kenny moves fast hence the blurry TSJ photo so here is a file photo.

ReplyDeleteKenny, you are the one and only original "SS" (supreme sander) and just think, you are able to get to the tight curvy places better than Diana Ross did it with the other "Supremes".
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to you sanding the 5' 10" MC Bonzer e-wing egg I ordered, cause then it will have that "SS" Mojo, which when added to a MC shape, give that much more speed and soul.

About a zillion years ago when I worked for Eddie at Sunset, Kenny was the only guy I could literally share a wave with at Swamis. We would do constant go-behinds each other as we would cut back, and it was fun.
