Bonzers!

Bonzers are a lot of work to shape, glass, fin, sand, gloss and polish what with all those concaves, side fins and e-wings but we feel like they are worth the extra effort because it all adds up to stoke.

The Handplane World Project

The Brownfish Handplane is a nifty little handmade device for bodysurfing shaped from paulownia wood. They have a nice comfy handle too. Crafty!
Daily surf blogger Jason Hall with a Brownfish Handplane.
Jason bodysurfing at the Wedge with a Brownfish Handplane.

From Jason Hall of the Daily Bread blog, "Global project in the works and need some help. I'm looking for surfers across the world, preferably near an ocean that can assist in a project that I'm working on with Brownfish Handplanes. Hoping to touch all continents for this project.

The idea is to send a Brownfish Handplane around the world to demo for a couple weeks at each location, sign the handplane, and forward to the next location. Very similar to the Singlefin Yellow project done years ago.

There might be a GoPro mount and camera that will be traveling with the handplane to document it's travels, but that's still in the works.

Email me at dailybread.photo@gmail.com if you or anyone that you may know might be interested."

Crafty & Groovy

This nice piece of functional art was dropped off at the store by John Peugh and Mike Slingerland. The seaweed is wood inlany. They made a really nice wood fin box for it too. Neat!

Hynson/Rainbow/Moonlight

John Frasier and Mike Hynson of Rainbow Surfboards. Hynson lived and shaped in the building Surfy Surfy Surf Shop currently occupies back in the 1960s
Hynson was stoked to see that the avocado tree behind our building was still alive and producing avos 40 years later.
Moonlight Glassing is doing a run of classic Hynson single fins for the Rainbow Surfboard label.

All the boards are handshaped by Mike Hynson himself and some feature nice glass-on fins.

It's always cool when boards get Gary Stuber resin tints and Peter St Pierre pinlines and stuff.

Look for surfboards by Mike Hynson in Surfy Surfy Surf Shop this summer!

Simm21 by John Cherry

Some of you have seen this board before at the Sacred Craft surfboard expo. It's John Cherry's take on the mini-simms concept. John calls it the Simms21, as in 21st Century Simmons.
It's a crafty little board. It doesn't show in the photo but the deck has a slight low volume scooped step deck style nose. The bottom has double concave (for shredding), and of course, it features incredible wood fins handmade by Cherry himself. It's got a snazzy resin leash loop. Yellow resin tint by Gary Stuber. It's also got the old school Moon Frog logo, and that is the Factory 101 hand on there too. The Simms21 logo is a hand drawn pencil laminate by John. The polished gloss finish is icing on the cake.
5'10" length x 21 1/2" width x 2 1/2" thickness.
Handshaped back in June 2009 but never ridden. It's for sale down at Surfy Surfy Surf Shop if you want to visit it in person.
*this board is SOLD, thanks!
