If there is a really random board going through Moonbase by a shaper that isn't in our regular rotation it's a sure bet that it belongs to quiver hound Tim Elsner. Shaped by Greg Pautsch. Dims unknown. Cool white opaque resin tint by Gary Stuber.
so was it shaped in Oz and brought over? I thought Geoff was based in Byron Bay? Been trying to find a real gullwing single fin McCoy nugget (not a thruster surftech) for quite sometime now. Any info on dealers here in the USA?
looks to be shaped by greg pautsch who is in san clem. he is used to shape for mccoy when he was in newport and is the only guy allowed to use his name in the us.
Revolution surfboards has the McCoy rights in the US. Pautsch is shaping for them. He worked side by side with Geoff and can make these as well as any of Geoff's guys - better IMO. A LOT less expensive than getting one from DU. I know, having spent nearly $2OOO on one with shipping. If you want one, go to Revolutionsurfer.com.
I can't see how you don't consider it a "real" McCoy. Greg shaped McCoy brand boards along side Geoff in Newport when Geoff lived in the U.S. Geoff went home and Greg is licensed to make McCoy designs and put the McCoy name on the board. Does Geoff need to physically be in the room during shaping??? If so, there's some bogus McCoys coming out of Geoff's shop in Australia. Geoff doesn't shape all of his boards. I'm just saying....
Whats your point? Yours is bigger than his? I own a McCoy I bought from Australia that has a shaper named Darren Rogers as the builder? Is it an imitation?
Daddy like. What kine fin?
ReplyDeleteHow do I get that?
