Coming Soon: Surfy Surfy Surf Shop

I am stoked to finally tell you guys about my latest wacky project, a real life Surfy Surfy surf shop.
We are moving into the former Longboard Grotto space, located in a historic building built in 1926, right on the coast highway in funky downtown Leucadia, California. My architecty type wife Yvonne is leading the building restoration. The surf shop will be 1200 sq feet of Surfy goodness, filled to the brim with all the groovy surfboards from Moonlight Glassing you've seen posted on Surfy Surfy.
As the building undergoes it's renovations we will slowly expand the shop.
I will keep you posted on the progress. Look for us to open by late winter/early spring 2010. You totally have to come to the opening night party.
Any questions shoot me an email at
Thanks! I owe it all to you fine folks for supporting Surfy Surfy.

  2. That's great news! The local surf shop is certainly an endangered species around these parts, and there is no doubt, a large part of the soul of surfing. Good work on leading by example.

  7. Congrats, that's a great idea - was a bit of a cultural disaster to lose the Longboard Grotto (yes I'm being serious). Putting your surfboard art on display and up for sale there is a fantastic move - let's all be sure to patronize the place regularly.

Wow. You're really doing it, you crazy wiggler. Let me know if you're still looking for an otherwise unemployable shipping clerk who's read the classics — some of them twice.

  17. Hi, JP. You probably don't remember me, but I remember your friendliness & willingness to take the time to answer some Bonzer questions and chat about my delaminated red 70s Sunset winged swallowtail. A glass job that lasted right into the next century! Bought used out of Ed Wright's shop on 101. No longer rideable, but of tremendous sentimental value to me. You and Leucadia are meant for each other. Are the glassing operations also moving to the shop, or do those stay in San Marcos?

  31. JP Check out the web site and new Michael Tiernan tune. This young man is going to be really big and I bet he might play your surf shop gig for exposure. That would be what us old guys call cool. P.s. Your shop is unreal. Funky with class. Best surfing vehicles on the coast. Claude
