The Moonlight Glassing crew December 2008.

A big thanks to everyone who visits Surfy Surfy and a huge thanks to everyone who ordered boards from us this year. You guys are awesome. In 2009 the waves are going to be good everyday!

One Cherry Quiver

Tuesday, December 30, 2008

John Cherry's personal quiver freaks me out. I've seen all these boards, but to view them all together is kinda mind blowing. Hours and hours of work invested into these beauties. He surfs those wood boards too, not just for the wall.

A Peace of the Pie

Monday, December 29, 2008
Malcolm Campbell writes the word PEACE on the stringer of every board he shapes. He does not do this lightly. It's not some hippy drippy thing or hipster irony. He actually means it.

On the tinted boards Malcolm's writing often is covered up, so on this board my Dad wrote Peace on the hotcoat and included this smart pinline.

This 9'0" is one of two Bonzer longboards we have in stock at Moonlight.

The e-wing pulls in the tail and gives the board lift in trim.

The e-wing deck view.

9'0" length x 22" width x 2 13/16" thickness.

Keeping Pace with Mikey DeTemple

Friday, December 19, 2008

Keith Novosel shot these photos of Mikey DeTemple riding his square nose Chris Christenson model in NY this past November. The board surfs so good that Mikey's pacemaker overheated and exploded so he had to get a new one installed.
Get well soon Mikey!

Firsties

This is Thomas Campbell's board from 2004. It was the first solid brown opaque resin tint I'd ever seen. I thought he was out of his mind. I remember I spent an entire afternoon polishing this board. At the time dark color resin tints were rare, especially on Bonzers. Years later Chris Christenson told me he had checked this board out at a party or somewhere and he noticed that the polish job was really good, so that stoked me out. Then Chris upped the ante and made me polish his black opaque boards. This brown board is also the first board I ever photographed with a digital camera.

All Square

I find these square nose Mikey DeTemple models by Chris Christenson strangely appealing.
There is one for sale at Icons of Surf.

The reflection off this Campbell Brothers Bonzer airbrush had me totally tripping out bros.
