ReplyDeletecan anyone help me?
Wiiiilllssooonnnnn!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLopez sucks. ask oregon
ReplyDeleteWell...Oregon can't actually be asked. Because it's a rectangular shaped chunk of dirt, trees and rock bordered by water.
ReplyDeleteI do live in Oregon and have surfed near Gerry on a couple occasions. I would disagree with the blaket descriptor of "sucks" though.
Gerry will take alot of waves. My guess is Anon wanted at least one of the waves Gerry took.
Gerry also often travels with a group of folks which sometimes crowds a central coast break which has become a bit more crowded over the last few years.
When I have surfed near Lopez, I have always given him plenty of room...a)Because he's out there to get all the waves he can in a short window b)Because I see little point in jockeying a legend for waves (I'd lose) c) He's my boyhood surf hero and I respect him.
So I say "Lopez' cool"...but I don't necessarily want to surf where he's surfing.
Respect to Gerry Lopez and Duncan Campbell for their many contributions to surfing and surfboard design, for going against the grain, for being individuals and free thinking, for taking risks, and for being humble. Alot of people should take notes.
ReplyDeletePeace always...
Tim
