In the fly-fishing world, fiberglass rods replaced bamboo about 50 years ago. It's nice to see some modern recognition for the "lovely reed". I'm a luddite who still fishes the old rods.
I just made a 5'9" round pin quad for myself that's going to have some of Marlin's bamboo fins...light and schnappy!
How about bamboo core fiberglass rods? Maybe I'll make one.
